I have been considering lowering my '01 Sport and wondered if anyone could offer any info. I haven't really been able to find a lot of info on what I would need to do/buy to make this happen!

Thanks

Yuo can get about a 2" drop by turning the torsions up front and putting 2" blocks out back....should take about an hour

This may sound stupid but how do I do the torsion twist? Also, where do I get the "blocks" from? I'm sure this is probably simple stuff, I've just never done it!

Do a search on this site on "torsion twist"
there are 2 bolts around the middle of your truck..they are attached to these long bars going towards the front ok your ride..those are the torsion bars with a 13mm socket loosening the bolt will lower the front end(just dont go more than 2 inches its good to measure before you start... as for the back the blocks can be bought at any auto part store "autozone, advance auto ,etc... just ask for 2" lift/lowering blocks around $25
get the one with the U- bolts included...the blocks go between the rear axle and the leafspring...hope this helps...searching this topic will give you more info....

Bill, Check out www.explorerexpress.com on the q&a about lowering. There are some adjusters that are necessary to keep your tires from uneven ware and an alignment is also required.
I used there kit and have been happy with the results. I still have the Monroe shocks and am not sure its worth the $ to switch those just yet.
Good luck...

Ok,

I checked out the Explorer Express solution. I have two questions. One, what is included, besides the camber adjusters, that would justify the cost? Also, I have a 2001 Sport wich DOES NOT have a mono leaf in the rear. Does that mean I need to get the 4 door kit?

about the 4 door kit, Yes. The explorer express kit includes blocks and u-bolts for the rear and camber adjusters for the front. As far as justification for the price, i personally think it is a rip off. I once got blocks and u-bolts from pep-boys and they did not fit(u-bolts didn't fit around the axle and the holes in the block were too small. I am going to trya nd find out if the ones at auto zone fit if they do, i am going with that. as far as the camber adjusters go, i know a company named MOOG makes them, and i just recently found a distributor of moog products here in Louisville, i need to call them and see if they stock the adjusters for the explorer. I hope this helps you out at all. The only reason i said go with the explorer express kit is because of the camber adjusters, but when i find aftermarket adjusters (hopefully soon) i will stay away from explorer express kits.
