Whatever you do, don't drop your Explorer~!!!!!!!!! Just say no! :p ;)

Ok, just messin'

Many people lower 1-2" by backing off their torsion bars and by putting in 2" blocks in the rear.

If i'm not mistaken, you'll need a camber kit to have your truck properly aligned after dropping it.

I would recommend doing a search for 'lowering and torision bar' or other key words like that. I think BlackMagic may have done a 'how to' on the torsion bar lowering.

Good luck!

when i drop it, how much will it drop it and wats the max rim/tire combo i can run.. i want like 18's.. will it look lowered and be good lookin... also its 4wd lol

i would lift it, but there aint much to do in my town with a lifted truck.. i want a truck that sits low to the ground and people stare at... plus i want the only lowered explorer in my town.. everyone elses is lifted..

The only difference between blackmagics truck and a 99 is they started using a leaf pack when they redesigned the sports. Blackmagic used blocks to lower the rear. The sports with a mono leaf, like your 99, has 4 spacers below the leaf and above the shock plate. Just take them out from there and put them between the axle and leaf. Depending on how low you want to go depends on how many of the spacers you swap. Swaping all 4 will give you just under 2".

how would i got about lowering the front end of the truck? how will i do it with the cv joints

Dead Link Removed

It's a looong thread, but plenty of informatin in there.

i fi do the torsion twist in the frint end, how far can i drop it without having to get an alignment or cambers?

anytime you adjust the front ride height, you must get an alignment. .5" or 3", you still need an alignment.

now how do i go about gettin the cambers? wont the shop as why i need them or will they jus do it with the alignment

the shop can install them. some keep the parts in stock, others will have to order them.

Tell them you lowered it. As long as you dont do more than 2" you shouldnt have too much trouble finding a shop to do it.

I just got my front end re-alligned last week. I have a 4dr 4wd so yours might be a bit different but anyways, mine is lowered 2.25" and with the eccentric camber kit installed the allignment shop maxed out the camber at -1.3 degree. The ideal camber allignment would be 0 degree to -1.0 degree. With my allignment being off by -1.3, it is very noticable. My point is (yes, I have one :p ) you don't want to go lower than 2" if you want your allignment to be perfect.

edit: this post took me 10 minutes to write and by the time I finished, X24 has stolen my point. Damn it. :D

I haven't had my coffee this morning. I couldn't think straight. :p

I keep deleting what I wrote because it doesn't make sense to me. If it doesn't make sense to me it sure won't make sense to anyone else... :D
