Hey I dont know what year you have, but I have a '99 sport, and I lowered it about 1 inches. Without spending a dime. Well except for the alignment afterwards. My 4x4 is fine, hope this helps, I dont know about if you go any lower

Hey Phatexplorer what year explorer do you have? this will make a big difference in the height options you have. It's like we told Journum1 we don't care if it's 2wd 4wd stock lifted or lowered as long as your explorer is more to you than just a car. If its something that means a lot to you and you represent us all well on the street not acting like an ass -- so often i see people giving SUV's a bad name -- then you are welcome here. you will probably have more options with a 91-94 explorer than with a new torsion bar explorer, the way the suspension is designed makes a lot of difference. get back to us and we'll let you know.

I will soon be lowering my 96 Sport with the kit from Explorer Express, so I have a question about the torsion twist thing. Can you do the opposite by losening the bolts? Also does anyone know how many turns you go to get one inch of lift/drop?

I have an Explorer Express catalog and they have a lowering kit for '95-'98 year. You can lower it to approximately 1 & 3/4 inches as what thye claim. Lowering kit includes aluminum lowering blocks, special u-bolts, front camber adjusters and detailed instructions. They suugest front end alignment after loweiring it. It cost $129.95. You can go to their web page at www.explorerexpress.com. Hope this help.

Yes you can lower it about 1 inch. What you are doing is backing the adjusting bolts back as far as they can until it starts parting away from the "pork chop". How many turns that is , I don't know but you should be able to let when it is at the end of travel on the torsion adjuster.
