After the Firestone recall my Ford dealer installed Bridgestone Dueler A/T 693 LT tires on my 98 Explorer XLT 4WD. They lasted almost 60K miles. I put the same tires on when I replaced. Now at 55K I need to replace again but they don't make the 693 in 235/75R15. And I wonder if I really need to be running Light Truck tires or should I go back to P tires. The Dueler 695 or Revo's look like options. Any words on sticking with LT tires? I do get some road noise and the ride is a little stiff. Don't do much off-roading but some snowy conditions. And I am going to get a small travel trailer this year.

You need to stick with a LT especially with using a trailer. Explorer's are heavy vehicles.

I wound up going with the Bridgestone Dueler Revo 2's. In my size there was no LT option so I went with the P235/75 R15's. Once again I ran into fallout from the old Firestone Tire recall issue. Costco and America's Tire have prohibitions on putting LT tires and anything over a 105 load rating on the '98 Explorer. Revo's don't meet that...but neither do the LT Bridgestone's I have been running the last 120K miles! So I went to an independent tire store that is not scared to death of corporate liability.
