Attempting to change my lugnuts, after loosing 5 of em last week (see post in the whoops forum). All they had at the store were the locking sets. I got the 4 regular nuts on fine, but the locking one wont tighten all the way, or come back off. Any ideas? i dont think i could have misthreaded it

It is possible that the locking lug nut has bottomed out. I've seen a few that are too short. If you keep turning when it is bottomed out it will be a bear to remove, and you could even strip the threads.

I dont think it could have bottomed out. Im having a shop put on 5 new studs on wednesday

well bottoming out or crossthreading are the main 2 possibilities. ANother is that you got the wrong thread pattern on the nut.

im thinking it may have gotten crossthreaded, and this stud may have been messed up by the wheel falling off (although i did have another lug on there for a couple days after without issues). Either way ive got an appointment to get all 5 studs replaced tomorrow morning

I think I may know this one... when your try to take it off with the key is it hard or does the key rotate easily? I bought a POS set of lock nuts from Autozone a few months back.. They damn key broke and allowed the inner portion of the key to rotate freely... I had to weld the key back together and remove the locking lug... needless to say I returned them...

Ended up being stripped where the studs mate with the rotor. The ring for the ABS was also cracked, so I had a new rotor put in for $150
