I have a 94 4.0 that I just put on a IFab intake and 2.5 catback with a flowmaster 50.I want to change the MAF and Throttle Body to bigger size. How big should I go on each? What kind should I use?Would prefer them to bolt up without a lot of modifications.
Thanks in advance!

I used a MAF off a 95 5.0 explorer and you can get the tb off summit and most online retailers

Ive got the same intake along with a 66mm BBK Throttle Body and 70mm Granatelli MAF...works great and both are quik bolt ons

Does the TB give as big of a gain as when you swiched to open eliment cone filter? or do you still have the stock air box? do you need to get the computer tuned for the MAF? or does it do it it's self by diconnecting the batt? how many mm. is the stock MAF and TB? sorry for the questions it just seems to me that if the computer thinks it has the same restrictive MAF and TB then it would run lean. thank you.

uh im not sure on the factory size of the maf or tb..maybe someone else can help me on that one.. i have the ifab.net intake with the open filter...i could tell a difference when I added the throttle body and then when I added the maf it did great.. it whistles alot now which i like.. yeah i just disconnected the battery and it reset itself but sometimes ill have a check engine light come on and i had it checked and it was a code that said it was runnin lean due to the maf but it only stays on for like 10 secs and then goes off

I would recommend resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery, but it shouldn't cause too much trouble... I think another possibility is replacing the internals from the stock MAF into the larger one... there was a thread in the forum that talked all about the MAF and TB switch and even included some excellent links on the subject... I can't remember which one it was, but it was fairly recent... search, or maybe someone else knows?

thanks i know i dident start this thred but i still had some questions. I have a 5.0 MAF with an open filter i did not notice any gain when i swiched to the big MAF but i dont think it was a waste of $$. i bet once i get the TB there will be a biggger gain with the larger MAF then without. because i beleave that no single bolt on mod will give you 10+ HP they all kind of work together in letting it breath better. your intake/exhust is only as good as your smallest passage.

The stock MAF is 55mm and the stock TB is 60mm... but not sure about the TB. I think the 89-93 Mustang 5.0 GL MAF is 70mm, but again, not sure. Does anyone know the size of the 2nd gen X MAF?

Go with the 5.0 mustang MAF and the BBK 66mm TB

that with exhaust should sound awesome too
