Jason-I had that same problem. What I did was, I drilled that thing in the middle and I bought a different set of screws to replace it. I don't know if that's the best idea but it works for me. :)

Buy a cheap Torx bit and drill a hole in the middle.

Snap-On carries them.

AC Delco carries them too.

I got my set at Pep Boys, of course I only needed the one bit which they didn't sell so I had to buy ike a 10-piece set and it was like $25! BUt now if I need one again I'll have it, I guess that's a plus... Its just called a security star torx bit set.

Auto Zone does sell them, the clerk just does not know. I had to look myself to find it at Auto Zone.

If you can wait and show up at truckhaven, I will have my set. Ill be glad to let anyone borrow it. Last year, no one had one, not even the Ford Mechanic, so If anyone needs one on the trail, Come see me!!!

Thanks

Or you can do what I did. Just use the star bit without the hole put it on the bolt and gently tap it with a hammer so the little point in the middle gets smushed down. I emphasize GENTLY AND CAREFULLY. Because you don't want to buy a new airbox or new MAS sensor. Worked great only took me a minute to do it.

I got mine at AutoZone. Actually I think you can take the regular Torx bit and a big ass hammer and make it work.

Blaine - I'd be careful if you were planning on pounding out those torx screws. If you pound real hard remember what is supporting the MAS... nothing. It is held up by even less if you use the KKM. Pounding on it could do some serious damage, you might get the torx screw to work, but you might crack the airbox or other components near the MAS.

Gotcha Matt. Tap lightly with big ass hammer. If big ass hammer not available, use one of those little ones you got from the cheap relative that drew your name last Christmas. You know...the little gold one with all the little screwdrivers in the handle.

I just used a small center punch and a hammer and the security pin snapped right out of the screw without damaging anything.

I got a set of security torx drill bits from a Champion Auto store. However, I didn't even have to use it. I used medium-sized pliars and they worked fine!
