Magellan back up camera "SUCKS"

I cant believe i fell for this..with its awesome reviews and you tube video i decided to buy one to put into my Explorer base model...bought the GPS and back upcamera...BUT!!!! This camera doesnt work well at night...if there is no post light you are totally looking at a black screen!!! Total Darkness!!! How in the world can they miss this area??? I just spent $65 installing it now i have to take it out for this is useless...Has anybody experience this one? Is their another alternative maybe replacing the camera that will work in a magellan gps? Thanks for the input!!...

Any chance you could rig up an LED light that comes on when you are in reverse? Mount it under the bumper so it's hidden and when in reverse, you can then see?

Not sure if i can add an LED light on it because the way the camera is mounted..there is no space for the light..what im thinking is if there is a possible way to replace the camera with a different one that will work with the Magellan GPS..ive seen camera with LED on it not sure if it will work though...

Why not just add brighter LED bulds to your stock reverse lights?

Are you saying you cannot see at all or cannot see as far out as you would like?

Oh i see i know what you mean...i want it to look clean as much as possible...was thinking about replacing the camera only with the ones with the LED but dont know if it will work with the plugs for the magellan...
