Just installed the Magnaflow cat-back system on my '08. Sounds great....mellow, not intrusive in the interior but very muscular sounding when you get on it. Even the wife likes it.

Install was not too bad....I don't have a lift so did it all laying on my back under the truck. The stock tailpipe has a factory indentation where it passes over the frame and the Magnaflow does not. Hard as I tried to position the new system, it will ding the frame if you pull on the exhaust tip. However, it does not seem to hit the frame when driving on smooth roads. Will see how it goes on rough surfaces.

Haven't driven on any really rough roads yet but in our fairly rural area with two lane roads, dips, pot holes, etc., no problem so far .

Well I took the plunge and just ordered one. Do you know how hard it would be to get the stock pipe after cutting it back on if you went to sell the truck or did not like the sound of the magnaflow?

congrads r u going to post a sound clip of it

If you wanted to re-use the stock exhaust, you will either have to weld it (or perhaps use a coupler with clamps) since you have to cut the OEM tailpipe near the rear axle to remove it.

If you like a muscular sounding exhaust, you will love it. It is not obnoxious but it rumbles nicely.

Unfortunately, I have no means of providing a sound clip. The Magnaflow website has a good video with sound.

Do you have the 6 or 8? I have an 06 with the V6 and am wanting to do something with it. I was thinking either magnaflow or flowmaster 50. Having a hard time deciding as of now. Also, what's the stock piping size? 2.25 or 2.5?

I tried the search function but not coming up with the info I need.

Mine is the V8. The Magnaflow system I have is 2.5 inch pipe.

Does anybody just do muffler swaps on these or always the full catback system?

I did that on a previous F150...local performance exhaust shop just swapped mufflers and added larger tailpipe.

I ended up paying nearly as much for that as I paid for the entire cat-back Magnaflow system and I could install myself.

On my F-150 I had a shop replace the muffler and everything back and it was ok. On my Lincoln I just did a muffler swap and kept everything else and was happy with it, I think I paid around $90 for each muffler and maybe $75 for a good shop to put them on. Much cheaper than what I've seen the whole catback systems going for.

I just did a muffler swap on mine. Cost me roughly $80 and I had the rear cat removed.

Is the stock piping 2.25"? I was looking at the Flowmaster Original 40 2.25 center in center out for mine. Having a hard time finding the original 40 on some sites though. See mostly Delta 40's or Super 40's.

Well I put it on last night and it looks and sounds great. Not loud at all but is still nice and throaty when you get on it. Also I thought I would be able to get the stock system off without cutting since I could see the bolt holding on the tail pipe. So I took off the back tire to get a better angle on it and then I got the tailpipe off. I thought I was in the clear but even with the tailpipe off you can't get it out in 1 piece unless you have a lift since the exhaust needs to fall down more then a jack will allow. So learn from my wasted time and just cut off the old system unless you have a full lift.
