 Need a little help. Seem to be having quite a tough time getting ahold of a good wiring diagram for my 92 EB 2WD.
I am having some hesitation (ok alot) when I excelerate. Thought it was a tranny prob but after Goodyear ran a diagnostic on it they said i am losing signal somewhere between the TPS and the MAF. They don't do wiring and suggested I go to an electrical shop. Ofcourse I will have to pay another $80 to have them "look" at it and then try to find the problem. If I could find a decent diagram I might have a chance of tracking it down myself.
Anyway... If anyone has any help it would be much apprieciated.
Peace,
Hallboy

My truck is running but not safely!

:frustrate I could really use some help here guys. This is the sole transport for my wife and 2 year old. It is really hard to drive and is getting worse. I am trying to get several things fixed but can't aford them all and wouls really like to get things done that i can do myself. The haynes doesn't have any help in this area as far as wiring.
Thanks so much for reading my thread. I hope you can help.
Peace,
Ian

Did you pull the codes on it, and if so what were they?

I had the same problem. It felt like the engine was stuttering when accelerating. Turns out that the spark plugs were totally shot. Some damn animal got under the hood from under the car and startet chewing on the spark plugs. I replaced them and the problem went away.

Hope this helps.

Another thing you can try is cleaning your maf - search this website for instructions, there are plenty.

Sorry, got no wiring diagrams. You might have to get manual at the store, or if you can handle 24.95, alldata diy.com has em online.

Chewing on you spark plugs......Theres some wicked critters in germany

The vehicle repair guides at http://www.autozone.com/repair_info.htm are the equivalent of a Chiltons DIY manual. They don't have the most complete wiring diagrams, but they will show you basic EEC-IV wiring, including the TPS and MAF.

Do you know specifically what code they pulled? Did you know you can pull codes yourself with nothing more specialized than a paper clip (or other form of jumper wire, see www.troublecodes.net/Ford)?

The truck will run without the MAF, and maybe without the TPS. Most of the sensors are for fine tuning and if one fails the engine will still run in "limp home mode".

Its worth checking for a clogged fuel filter or faulty fuel pressure regulator FPR). Fuel pressure at the regulator test port should be about 30-40 psi and it should increase by about 5 psi under acceleration, or when the vacuum line is disconnected from the FPR.

If you're not starved for fuel, maybe its spark. I had a hesitation while accelerating that turned out to be bad spark plug wires. They were decent aftermarket wires, but had been in the truck for a long time. Physically, they looked fine and continuity checked good, but when I replaced them the hesitation went away.
