Making air intake

First off I have searched for hours and didn't find what i needed. I'm planning on making and air intake like many of you guys have. I plan on cutting off the air silencer and running tubing back to the air box. Alright my question is what kind of tubing did you guys use. i heard some people saying they used dryer tubing but doesn't dryer tubing have ripples in it creating turbulent air .. which i think is bad (not sure though) Any info is helpful thanks in advance
