Never had an intake on any of my previous vehicles so I found a deal from a lad on here and couldn't resist. I must say the sound it makes in the cab is what pleases me the most. My mileage got worse though...hahah...I can honestly say that I will have to get an intake on every vehicle I get from here on out.

Now i need to get a muffler that will help with efficiency. At this point I don't care about being loud just more efficient. The intake added quite a bit of sound (IMO) to the stock muffler as it is.

Can't say I've seen an intake only video on youtube so I added. Let me know what you think about it good/bad and suggestions. Video quality sucks I was just trying to give an idea of the sound inside the car. What sucks is that I didn't take a before/after of inside the cab which sucks.

intake

I checked your utube video. Sounds good. Just what did you do? USA is the GREATEST:us::salute::us:

Just a k&n fipk cold air intake. It's kind of useless I guess to show that video or mention it but the thing was quiet compared to what it is now. I can't push the pedal to accelerate past 2500rpms if I do it reminds me just how fast the gas is leaving my gas tank. Before it was pretty quiet up to about 4k rpms. I really had to floor it to get the "conserve gas" from my wife. Need to stick the stock intake on and see the difference or take video with my video camera to see if it sounds louder/better. I listened to another guys on youtube and it sounded similar to mine with an intake.

I bought it in hopes of it increasing my mpg for the soon trip back up to our parents homes in Michigan. 2400 miles round trip and getting over 1 mpg better I will pay for the intake by savings in gas consumption, at least that is what I told my wife before buying it ;)

wow!!! that does sound great!!! i should do one of mine.i got the volant cold air intake.but i don't think it sounds quite like that.my filter is inside a box to keep under the hood heat out.it has a hole cut out in the fron of the box right behind the passenger headlight, and a hole cut out facing the fender.

lol. keep your foot out of it! it sounds great, but if you drive normally/more conservatively, you should see a bit of a mileage gain

Thanks for the comments guys! ;)

Yeah I'll have to drive with it for a while to get used to the sound...for now though I'm going to have to waste a little bit of gas! I can't get enough of the sound it makes. I can only imagine what the volant cai's would do considering they block all the heat out. Either way I'm ecstatic with the improvement just in engine sound. Wish I would have taken a before intake while driving video.

It was really dirty when I got it and I need to clean it some more. But this is the k&n kit.

Aldive did a study of the heat temps, and I want to say he concluded that between 30-40mph, there's enough air flow to where the heat under the hood is only a few degrees higher. I'm not positive though so don't
. the only thing i can point out about the k&n filter (if that's what it is, i see the tube but not positive about filter) is that it's easy to over oil them, and the oil can gunk up on the MAF sensor and mess it up. but congrats! let the mods begin!

i got the volant cai.i think your k&n might be quite a bit louder because the filter is out in the open, where mine(volant) filter is enclosed in a box like housing.

What's weird is it sounds like the engine is more beastly not the intake making noise (which I'm sure has more to do with the intake being loud sucking the air in and not much to do with making the engine louder.) But the engine would be louder because your making more power, wouldn't it? Either way I can't wait to see improvements in the mpg but the throttle response is better. Can't really notice the power difference as the sound kind of gets more of your attention. I know the tires still wont spin, I was hoping perhaps that would be my indicator but no such luck. The tires are too wide, nearly 11 inches wide with 275's so that probably has quite a bit to do with it.:thumbdwn:
