Mangled Chrome Rims

Hello all...
I have a little problem. I have this 2003 Limited and the chrome rims on the front are really messed up. They are extremely dirty and I believe they are either stained or corroded, because i can't get them clean. They also seem to be chipping or cracking around the bolts. I have these pics here so you can see what I mean. Does anyone have any suggestions on if it is possible to clean these rims and restore them to their former glory? Also is the cracking that is occuring around the wheel dangerous? Like is it just the chrome coating or is it actually the wheel that is falling apart? Thanks for any and all advice.

I suggest driving over to Ford and getting yourself some new rims, that should be covered under warranty.

I do believe they are just covers over the FX4 type rims. Cheap yes! So thats why you are getting the cracking. And since they're plastic, they will probably discolor easily.
