my shifter has had a lot of play in it for a while i looked at it and could tell i needed a new one. went to the local u-pull-it and got one for $7. it felt good in the truck. swaped mine out and i noticed ane of the studs inside the tranny was broke off (this is the part where the groves on the ball on the shifter slide over to keep the shifter straight.

MY question- what are these studs called, where do i get them and are they just pressed in and out (no threads on them?)?

anyone have anyidea what they are called?

thats a great help but of course the one part i am looking for is not there. i might just have to call ford.

I believe there is a hardware kit you can buy that should fix your issue. I have the same problem.
Why not just go grab the needed parts from the same truck you got the shifter from at PaP?

the little studs are pressed in and to get the part of the tranny that bolts to the shifter they want me to but the whole tranny. i would get the tranny it has 120K on it but mine was rebuilt 50k ago
