Manual Tranny Fill Hole Size

I want to check the level of my transmission fluid on my 94 manual X (mazda tranny). I looked in my Chilton book and it said the plugs were normally 3/8 inches... I looked underneeth and I think they were bigger than 7/8...

Am I looking at the right plugs, the drain plug is clearly marked is the fill plug the same size?
