I am wondering about putting in a transfer case lever into the floor. This "push button" crap aint cuttin it. electic spool already broke once.

I am wondering how expensive this might be? cant be over about 400 for custom right?

Is there maybe a kit that someone sells to do this conversion? Is the stock Ford transfer case any good anyway? not sure what is has. is it even an NP or NV? maybe a dana 300? lol

Your stock case is one of the electric Borg Warners and what you want is a BW1354 manual shift. The 1354 Manual was available in Gen1 Explorers and some 90~98 Rangers and again in a few 2002-2003 Rangers. Although some internal parts are interchangeable, it is not practical to convert the case itself from one type to the other.

I think that a manual shifting transfer case is a ton more reliable than any push button. I don't have a problem doing the work myself, I am just now changing transfer cases in my jeep.
All I would have to do the make it a manual shifter is install the lever and the linkage correct? I wouldnt even need an entirely new case woul I?

I don't know if your factory t-case is a 4405 Control Trac or a 1354 Electric but it is not practical to convert either one to operate like a 1354 Manual. There is no provision in the electric cases to accept the manual gear change mechanism just as there is no provision in the 1354 Manual to accept the shift motor. The case castings are similar but the case machining and some intenal parts are different.

You would need the complete 1354 manual case and the linkage (often harder to find than the case itself).
