Master Cylinder / Sticking Calipers

Can a bad master cylinder cause calipers to stick? Or would sticking calipers only be a sign of a bad caliper?

How'd you know they were bad? Where they nicked or something? Or leaking?
 












They weren't visually bad, but the calipers wouldn't release. The interior "liner" fails collapsing, pressure can go through, but fluid can't return to release the caliper.

Yeup, happened to me too. I went ahead and replaced the caliper with a rebuilt one as I already had everything torn apart.

Apparently this is a common problem with Ford's. My uncle has it happen alot to his van.
