i think it looks decent... no need for any big exhuast or body kits... it is nice as is... supposed to be pretty fast as well

is it me or do all those little cars look the same? the mazda 6, acura rsx, the new pontiac sunfire, and the new chevy cavalier?

kickass....kickasss...thats all i gotta say, and cheap too.
I like the headlights and taillights a lot, and the fact u can put a bose in there. Only gripe is they shoulda painted that small chrome piece in the front to match

well, the acura, sunfire/cavalier, and the mazda are all made by different companies... the only 2 that should slook the same are the sunfire/cavalier....... all the little cars to have an essence that resembles each other.... it is just a basic appeal to their target buyers..... like my truck, in its condition, few, if any people would buy it.... but some would buy it, becuase they appreciate that....

Might want to check that Jim ;)

I say I wouldn't buy it because it's a Mazda and Ford quality control probably had something to do with it. I'm sure it's foreign competition is much better. Maybe not in price, but it's worth it knowing that it won't be at the dealership every other week for repairs and knowing that when I want to sell it, I will get a good resale value from it.

They're great. We had one at work a month ago, and it looked really nice (dark blue, sprot package, 5-speed...).

I like the way they look. A little late on the design...but still nice.

Was it the 6 CYL?

Yep, basically loaded. It was in for display (along with about a dozen other new cars and trucks) when we had analysts in for a state of the business presentation, so it wasn't something we could drive around in.

I love this car.

Quallity i would think is much better then my X.

did anyone open it up at all, how was the performance?

It was basically driven off of an enclosed truck and into the building. One of my coworkers went to drive one yesterday at lunch and said that it was pretty nice. Of course he wasn't looking for how quick it was, so he wouldn't be able to answer that.

I think it's sharp. And although I haven't driven one yet, I've never met a Mazda that isn't fun to drive.

heres some info from my Car and Driver mag:

DOCH Duratec with 220hp @ 6300rpms, 192 lb-ft @5000
(basically the Ford Duratec engine but Mazda added new cylinder heads with continously variable intake-valve timing, swirl-inducing vanes cast in the intake runners, and 10:1 compression ratio (on regular unleaded).
0-60 - 6.8, 1/4 - 15.4 @ 93mph

I love this quote:
"Twist the key and blip the throttle to transform a quiet idle into a feral snarl. Under way with the hammer down, there's 76dBA of baritone roar, the timbre of which suggests it originates in Yankee cubes rather then high-tec cams":bounce: :D

I agree as the duratec in the Taurus is always called the most sports car sounding V6 in it's class and has a mean snarl when you floor it.

That Duratec line of engines is going to be Ford's saving grace in the car market. The 6's 2.3 Liter Duratec I-4 (Yes it's based on the Ranger) is supposedly one of the most high-tech engiens available, and has lots of room for modifications, just like its big V-6 brother. I actually may think of trading in the Taurus for a 6 :D

Duratec's have one mean growl thats for sure, how'd you like that quote from Car and Driver above? Thought you would like that from your other post on that one thread with you, Stephen and I on all the cars......

Or you could just wait for the new Taurus which will use a 3.5 Duratec V6 with around 250hp and about the same tq. They need to throw that engine in the Escape and the Mazda 6...the 6 would especially haul some azz with 3.5 Duratec.

Heh well when I drove a Taurus Duratec, I thought they had mistakingly given me a SHO model instead :D That's all I have to say about the Duratec. Great engine, and I love the sound. Not your typical DOHC aluminum block sound :)

And yes i'd like to see the Escape get it too. The Escape is based off a Countour chassis if I remember correctly, and would probably be about as quick as the Taurus.
