Hi all,

I've got a few questions. I ran a search on MBQ and didnt turn up to much. I need to get some components for teh front and some 5x7/6x8's for the rear doors. I have tried finding info on MBQ, but still havent got much. I'm pretty set on the Kicker Resolution 5x7's for the rear doors. The guy who I got my subs from had MBQ's in his car and I rode in it once, and it sounded nice. So I'd like to check out some components from them. I looked at their site, and they had a bunch of different models, I didnt know where to start. I want something that will sound good, but still be in the normal price range for components. What model should I look for? Or would I be better off sticking with Kicker in all 4 doors? I'm up for suggestions ;)

Thanks in advance,

Peace!

Didn't you say earlier that you aren't going to install anything for a long time. New models will be out in the spring so right now there really isn't a point at looking into what to buy, that is unless you are gonna be installing soon.

The Kickers are a good choice for the back. A good MBQ component set is gonna cost you some serious change. There are cheaper alternatives that will suit you better. Also MBQ's need to be powered from an external amplifer. No headunit on the market is gonna make those MBQ's sound like they should.

It takes a very good install to tame the highs on MBQs. Their tweeter is very, um, bright. Definitely go listen to some before you buy. At that price point, I'd also recommend looking at some Diamonds and Focals.

they probably sound bright becuase you heard them on some piece of crap amp. put them on an Xtant or a Zapco and you'll be amazed. in my X im using the Quarts in the back and the Resoulutions in the front. i like the resolutions better than the Q's but both are high quality and worth every extra dollar. which tweeters are you looking at with the Resolution?

It will be a while, but I dont know how long of a while it will be. Depending on the rate of my cash flow, it could be all be set up in a couple weeks or could take upwards of several months. I'm not looking for the newest, most expensive, high-tech stuff, just something that will sound nice but not choke me with a price. Thanks for the help so far,

Grant

I recently installed 5.25" MBQ in the front and rear doors, mounting the tweets in the kickpanels and attenuating them 3db in front and 6db in back. I am pushing 100 watts rms per channel to the doors and 425 rms to a 10" JL in the stock location. All this driven off a Pioneer DEH-P9200R head. I have never had a vehicle sound soooooo good. I will never go back to the stock replacement type speakers.

Exploder99, I did hear them off an Xtant amp, and they were still a little bright for my tastes. That's just IMHO though, and that's why speakers are the one component that you must audition before you buy.

hey, my friend had a set of mb quart 6 1/2's up front of his 4runner before he got eights and they really sounded good and he only had a kicker ix704 running all his speakers. they sound really clear with out much distortion. all the mb quart speakers sound good but the more money the better they will sound. www.nexxon.com is a really cheap site but still has brand new products take a look there before you buy. oh and i was talking to a proffesional installer and he was saying it sounds best to stay with the same brand of speakers all around.
