All right folks, I have a stupid question. I'm about ready to replace my rear U-joints on my '92 Eddie Bauer 4x4 Auto. At the parts store, It list two different size rear U-joints. Does this vehicle have two different size u-joints on the rear driveshaft? Seems odd, but I'm no mechanic.

Most likely the parts store doesn't properly differentiate between the 8.8 being in explorers and the 7.5 being in bronco II's and some rangers. So they list both parts for the 8.8 and 7.5 as being for an explorer. They typically mess the front up as well, selling both dana 35 and dana 28 parts for explorers. Buy the bigger one, it should be the correct size.

Thanks guys. I'm tackling it today. I'll post and let you know how it went.

So I got the u joints in. Turns out autozone has three different sizes listed for the rear of the '92 Explorer EB. The large one were too large "3/16". I had to exchange them for "1/16". One ujoint was original and was a Bear to get out. Other then that, no worries. Truck drives like new. Thanks again.

Its weird that they'd have the 3/16" listed :dunno: Glad to hear you got everything done.. What did you use to press the U-joints in/out?

I "coerced" them with a hammer & old sockets. :)

I tried that route with my 1st set of U-joints.. I beat them for 20min with a 8lb sledge hammer with little to no movement.. I then broke a 4 ton press while trying to get them out  I guess they were in tight ;)
