My Explorer quit charging and of course immediately everybody including myself assumed it was the alternator. No one ever mentioned the mega fuse located on the outside of the power distribution box under the hood. after searching the web for how to check alternator I discovered the megafuse. Thank you Ford for making it. I spent 5 bucks instead of fifty and now no problems. Oh and by the way since I am a female I was told over and over that is a maxi fuse and I insisted not and they laughed, who's laughing now LOL

Glad you got your Explorer running. I am a guy and I'll admit that I didn't know it was called a "Mega Fuse"

There are so many type of fuses anymore in a vehicle anymore it is hard to keep track of whats what. Mine, maxi, mega, along with others.

To the OP I would look and see if I could figure out why that fuse blew, there had to be a reason and I would hate to get away from a parts store and have it blow again. You also might want to pick up a extra one as a just in case.
