Welcome,

I just recently purchased a 2000 XLT V8 AWD and from what I can tell it's a pretty solid machine. I sold my '01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT to buy the Explorer. 70K for 7,500 looks like a pretty good deal. A good friend of mine has a 2000 Mountaineer V8 AWD w/ 120,000 and still pulls as strong as mine w/ 33,000. As for anything going wrong, I haven't heard of anything major, but I have heard of quite a few V6 models having transmission problems. From what I've read the V6's have thier own trannys while the 2nd Gen V8s share the same tranny as the f150s and Expiditions.

Good luck,

T

good thats what i want to hear , as long as it holds up good for a few years i'll be happy

the 5.0 drivetrain is pretty dang tough.

cool to see someone else from minnesota

wish i could make it , got stuck workin this saturday , you do all that work yourself ?

yeah, i did it all myself.

I have a few friends who hook me up with products and some extra labor help too when the sanding gets to be too much. well that and paint, i know a couple of really good painters pretty well.

one of the guys who helps me a lot actually has a 1983 monte that is our next major project. we plan on doing more glass in that than is done in my truck. don't know if you like the older style ones or not.

yeah i like the older monte's too , and if you ever need any help with anything by all means give me a call or let me know , im tryin to learn as much as i can about fabbin up doors/trunks with glass, i've done one fiberglass project and that was a failure , but for now im happy with my new shiva

but like i say, if you need help just ask

hey no problem

we'll be working on that 83 all the time down in burnsville (hopefully- we still don't have a lease on the garage we're hoping to get yet) but we could always use some more help once we get things going a little.

for now though, we're going to be ripping out my headliner to fiberglass the rear 1/3 of it with some plexi mirror and components for my rear 5.1 channels hanging in it.
