mercron V whch brands are ok to use?

about to do a tranny filter and fluid change on my 98 Mountianeer Calls for mercron V. As long as its mercron V rated , does the brand matter much, be it Castrol, valvoline, Nappa? thanks guys!

no it doesnt really matter the maker but most poeple on here prefer the more exspensive fuild brands such as royal purple, amsoil, mobil 1. Me personally mobil 1 but i get it for free so thats why i pick it.

Most brands are made by the same manufacturer- not all, most. I usually buy Castrol Mercon V, just because it's the cheapest I can get.

Mobil1, Royal Purple, etc. are a whole other story.

From what I've read, it seems that Mobil 1, and Amsoil are pretty much the top fluids which most people prefer to use. My experience with Mobil 1 has been good. I've never used Amsoil, but it seems that most people would make it their first choice.

thanks guys I am going to use the castrol I think I found it cheapest at wally world. What do I put in the transfer case and about how many quarts?? Is its fluid easy to change also? I figgure about 12 quarts if I do a converter drain and filter change. Thanks guys.
