message center....

im looking into buying a new explorer and alot of the ones im looking at have the lil center console message computer.
is this thing worth haveing or does it cuase any problems?
would it be better to find one without it and have the extra consol storage space or does it come in handy?

My aunt had one in her old limited. It was cool for about 5 minutes. The cooler thing is the climate control. But after driving her X for 1/2 a year.. and then getting one of my own without that stuf.. i didnt miss it.

The thing that I wouldnt mind having that her X did was the cell phone features. There was a little button on the pilar.. you'd press it for voice activated dialing. Just say the persons name and the phone would dial. Also the radio would automatically turn off for incoming and outgoing calls. Cool!

i disagree, i find the message center and ETAC absolutly necessary. more flexibility in internal climate, ability to see immediatly how my driving habits are affecting fuel consumption, all manner of things. if youve got the money, go for the message center.

but is it something that breaks and needs replaceing that costs alot of money?
