MFT error and running hot

Yesterday, I had the radio on the whole time I was driving for 20 minutes. I turned the car off when I was at the gas station. I ejected the CD and it was really hot... Felt like 40 degress celcius. But I wasn't even playing the CD. Could this mean that the MFT is running way too hot? What I'm thinking is that the MFT runs way too hot... This could be a cause to system problems like the XBOX360's red ring of death problem.

The day before, I got over 3 maintainence checks in a row within 5 minutes because it said 911 assist failed or something and that I have to see my dealer. After it crashed yet again, I noticed that there was this small window that popped up for half a second in the middle of the screen. The window resembled one from like a Windows 98 - Classic and it disappeared before I could see what it said.

I don't know if I should be concerned or not but I am a bit concerned that my MFT might fail again.

Engine bay a bit hot:

I also popped my hood after 10 minutes of driving and a large amount of heat blew into my face from the engine bay. It seems that the Explorer isn't getting rid of heat efficiently in the engine bay either. My old Ex never felt so hot after a 20 minute drive. It feels like the engine bay traps the air inside and so it can't get the heat out.

All you can do is bring it to the dealer and hopefully have it fixed.

Does anyone feel how hot it is? I'm just wondering if it's normal for everything to get so hot is what I'm saying. Or maybe I'm just paranoid lol.

Does your temperature gauge show it's running hot? If not, you are probably OK. 20 minutes is plenty of time for an engine to come up to temperature.

I SAW IT, I SAW IT!!!!!!!!

I was driving down the road this morning and MFT crashed. It first went black; dead. Then this dialog window popped in the middle of the screen for a second just like 1995E said. I think I noticed a yellow X square on the right. It was there for a second so I couldn't tell what it said either. I did notice that rather than disappearing, it faded away rapidly (like Windows 7 effect).

The system went black again and a few seconds later I got the Scheduled Maintenance SSOD (Sync Screen of Death -- you heard the term here first! LOL!). MFT came back up after a couple of minutes.

Sad, just sad....

What I'm wondering is if it was a software issue or was it the hardware starting to fail on me. Because of how hot the CD was when I ejected it, I'm guessing there might be problems caused by all the heat inside the MFT system...

Like chimoman said, it’s a good idea to have your Explorer checked by the dealer, but I would also like to help by looking into this issue. I can escalate your concern if you would please send me your VIN, dealer name, and approximate mileage.

I hope this didn’t happen at an inopportune time for you. This issue also is something I would also like to look into further. If you send me a message with the information I posted above, I can see how I can help.
