friend has them. suck on the road and alright off-road. not what there worth for there money though b/c you get about 10-15K for the tires

from what i have heard, they are just ok off road..... and suck anywhere near a road... in my opinion, not a good tire choice.... the procomp xterrain or yokohama geolandar mud terrain are a much better choice and are still fairly aggressive

okay.. heres what im looking for. i need a tire that behaves well on road and still have a good edge on the snow. i want an aggressive looking tire with reasonable tread wear. i have pirelli scorpions AT right now and they did pretty good for me.. they gave me about 40k. here's what ive looked at so far.

Procomp AT or MT (do the xterrains come in 31's?)
Goodyear AT/S
Yokohama Geolander MT
Bridgestone Dueler MT

any others that i should consider? (besides BFG's)

Thanks!

BFG's !

You can get 60k+ on the AT's less with the MT's.
If you only want to buy 4 new ones, I can sell you one of my old 31X10.5's as a spare for cheap. We live close enough to each other, and I work in San Jose.

will those fit under my x in the spare tire well? i read in a post that they wont fit.

Get the BF Goodrich mud terrain, GREAT tire on road, EXCELLENT tire off road, mud, snow, rocks, they conquer all, and are still great on road with a good life if your daily driver

whoa.. san jose.. cool. i work on the south side of san jose off blossom hill road at the Hitatchi Plant (formally known as IBM).

how many miles will i expect to get? i frequently drive to vallejo on weekends. thats a 140 miles round trip. will it hold up that street abuse? thanks!

maaaybe.. if you guys can convince me enough...i might get the BFG's.

from what your wanting, i'd seriously go with the BFG's......i've read several test and the BFG mud terrain comes pretty close to the top, only ones that beat it off road are the bogus Super swampers, which wouldnt last on-road. Also, the Goodyear MTR is a GREAT tire also off road, even better than the BFG, BUT, the goodyear cost more and doesn't last quite as long on-road.

I've had the BFG MT/KMs now for a little over a year, and they do wonderful on the road, and superb in the dirt. They still have at least 75% of the tread left, maybe more not quite sure. Just know that it is more than enough to plow through mud holes and make it back out just fine!:D I have pics of them, just copy and paste the link below.

let me throw these 2 out to you..

General Grabbers MT
Procomp MT

yes/no??

I have the BFG A/t's for about 2 years, 30k miles and still have 50+% of tread. That's 27k city, stop and go, and 3k desert, mud, sand, and rocks.

i'd go with the Pro Comp, even though they look like the same tread pattern as a BFG they still wont perform as well off road and they wont last as long, but they are cheaper.....

Like everyone else has already said... get the BFG's! You will be very happy with them....

sorry to keep bugging. i just came across these. looks good.. but im not to sure bout its performance. there the Toyos Open Country MT

heres where i found it..http://www.off-road.com/chevy/reviews/toyotires/mudterrain/

Personal Statement: "too bad it had to come from a Chevy site."

i think they only come in this size.. 38x15.50R18LT .. check out their web site. www.toyo.com

Real nice looking tire. Too bad they only offer it in a 38"

I have the 31x10.5x15 Radial MT Baja claws and LOVE them. They ride like glass going down the highway and DIG and Clean fast in the snow. I paved my own way into two feet of snow and came to a stop because i was pushing too much snow and thought i was stuck..lol put it in reverse and you should have seen the wall of white snow being thrown from under my tires as the rev limiter kept my 4.0 together! WOOHOO, seeing as Ive actually driven with these tires I IMHO say its worth every cent and I wont run anything different on my X.;)
