I have a misfire at idle. I replaced the spark plugs and wires about 500 miles ago, but that was before I replaced the fuel filter (plugged beyond recognition,) replaced the air tube (melted through at throttle body,) and replaced the TPS (flat line voltage throughout throttle band.)

So is it possible that in less than a total of 300 miles these few issues have fouled a spark plug or could my coil pack be fried?

Is there a way to test the coilpack without having to drop almost $100 on a replacement?

Oh- it seems to be more pronounced when the engine is cool, worst at initial start-up.

I wouldn't think any of those things would have fouled a plug.

As for the coilpack, Autozone will test it but you have to strip the pack down to only the coils. They will let you know if it's good or not.

I'm not 100% sure but it could be a timing issue... I'd hope not but it could be. :(

AZ can do that? Not sure I trust my local store to be sufficiently competent. I'm really hoping it's not timing- hard to think it could be- it runs great and the stumble/misfire is intermittent at best.

Yeah our local AZ tested one for me, Found out it was a timing issue and I junked the car after I stripped some parts off of it. It's a free service, advance may be able to do it, Maybe Napa as well. I'm not sure about those you should call and check ahead of time.

My guess would be timing, It could be a little off and still running from my experience. But I hope I'm wrong.
