Now that I have solved my door ajar issue, I can get back to my misfire. I have had some trouble with this off and on for awhile. Hopefully someone can help me. Sometimes it throws a code, sometimes not ( mostly often)
Today the only code it threw was P1401, so I drove to parts store, bought and replaced the DPFE sensor right in the parking lot. On the way it threw the P1401 and P0305. I recently replaced all the plugs with Ford plugs and all 8 coil paks. I replaced the the DPFE sensor and put in another plug.. On the way home it threw both codes again, I had cleared them before I left. Any ideas ?? I hope I make sense, this is so aggravating and beginning to be expensive .. Tks in advance

Was there a misfire before the plug and coil change?
Check the wiring for the #5 coil and move the coil to another cylinder. If the misfire follows the coil, the coil is bad.
Unfortunately, new parts can be bad.
When you pulled the plugs and coils, was there anything abnormal? Did you set the gap on the plugs to spec?

Tks XploX.. Been troubleshooting more and as weird as it sounds, here is what is happening: The coil tested to be bad so I got one from my brother-n-law, he has the same engine.
Tested the coil and the plug, both proved to be good, so took it for a test drive, started out running perfect, the mpg had excellent mileage even up a steep upgrade highway, went to get gas, when I put it into park, it started shaking ( rough idle) service engine light came on.. So back to reading codes it was misfire #5. We tried this same procedure 3 more times with same results, but the last time I took negative terminal off for a little bit to clear the codes that way instead of with the scanner, on my way home the service engine light came on, I didn't scan it, but about know misfire #5 again.
I read online that on some fords that excessive spark plug gap could cause ignition coil failure, I don't know if that's true all I know is we are at wits end..
