Well, getting ready to change the oil, bought big jug of Mobil 1 down at Wally World, threw it in the back with other random stuff I bought, headed over to the Ford dealer and picked up a Motorcraft filter, and headed home to do the dirty work. It was a lot more dirty and a lot more work than I expected. About a quart leaked out of a pinhole in the top of the container into the far back right corner of my Sport after it fell over. Only about a square foot section of carpet in the corner, and then a one inch strip along the whole back against the liftgate.

So, whats the best way to remedy this? I had some kitty litter so I went ahead and threw that on there and soaked up most of it and then shop-vac'ed it. Any solvent that I can use that will get the remainder out of the carpet without ruining anything else? I'd rather not have any discoloration, but if there is a little oh well. Just as long as there is no more oil getting on everything else I put back there. HELP ME!

I was thinking maybe Simple Green? I use it on everything else.

Yes, I feel very dumb. The container was in a bag but must have hit something when it fell over and punctured it.

I suppose simple green could work, if not resolve is great on carpets... and if ya can get at it when wet still, a wet carpet steamer/washer thinger would probly suck it all out

i dont know if you will be able to find this or not but its worth a try. i used to work at an art suply store and in our cleaner and solvent section we had a stick or stuff called kiss off. i used it once at home to get black oil paint out of white carpet. you can not even tell it got stained. but i dont know if you could find this stuff. good luck

one word. THORO. This is the best stuff ever. I used it to get some oil based deck stain off of my carpet when I walked through the house with a paintbrush

I'm thinking a degreaser might work, like the spray bottle ones made by Castrol. I don't know if it'll cause discoloration though. After that, soak it with soap and water.

Never heard of it..where might I find this miracle cleaner?

Heres what you do....remove the carpet from the rear of the truck. I believe this can be done quite easily. Spray it down with the Castrol degreaser in the purple bottle(or similiar) than take a pressure washer and spray the thing down. Use warm/hot water if you can. Hang it over a step ladder to dry. If you don't want to take out the carpet, just go to a coin wash, and spray from the back seat. You may have to use a wet/dry vac to get all of the water up. Your carpet will be good as new.

I think I got mine at Albertsons.(grocery store) But im sure wal-mart carries it. Its called THORO. Like I said it worked for me but I had to scrub like a *****.

EDIT: Ok I searched the web for it and couldnt find jack **** on it... Maybe I spelled it wrong... I will check when I get off of work and get home. I will tell you for sure tomorrow.

I think I can have my rear carpet out inside of 12 seconds... just remove it.. the thought of a spray wash from inside the truck is going to give me nightmares..

hmmm...spray from the back seat...someone really likes to play with their hose.

Since im at work tonight, I went ahead and yanked it out, doused it in simple green, parked one tire of a fire truck on the corner of it so it wouldnt blow away, then sprayed it down with a 2 1/2 inch hoseline running about 120 psi.

No more oil...

..and a lot less fuzzy carpet. Which is good, I guess, because i was trying to think of a way to shear off all the little furballs that had accumulated.

ROFL... Didnt know ya had access to a fire hose... That would blow someones skin clean off of their face :D
