Has anyone done any modifying of their stock intake? Either porting or Extrude Honing. I would be interested in seeing the results of this type of modification.

I've never seen the OHV V6 intake be extrude on, but I'm sure that every little bit helps. I've considered doing some cheap performance mods to my sister's '94 Explorer so that I'm not in such a bad mood the entire time that we are both travelling home from school whenever we take the Explorer instead of my '97 Mountaineer V8. I have seen numbers for the Cobra Intake that the Explorer/Mountaineer 302 has before and after being extruded and ported, they are pretty impressive. I don't remember what they are off hand, but my roommate who races Mustangs found that there is a little overhang where the throttle body and the upper intake meet on my engine, and that will probably occur on all engines.

Stock airbox mods

for my 1994, I drilled 4, 1 1/2" holes on the fender side of my stock airbox, blocked off the original intake and it works fine. It added more low end and up hill pulling power, and it was not too loud (you can hear it for the first few days, then it seems normal). It was easy, and very cheap. My K&N drop in filter does not get any dirtier than before either, and I don't have to worry about sucking an engine full of water from the stock intake, if my truck decides to go for a swim.
