I have an 03 Ford Explorer Sport Trac and am installing new upper control arms and lower ball joints on both sides. I decided to put the Moog Adjustable washer kit in(K80065).

The question I have is on the drivers side, the front mount of the control arm looks good and as the washer rotates the control arm moves. On the rear mount of the control arm, the washers are contacting and it is impossible to rotate with the 3/8 square hole.

Is this correct that the rear mount on the drivers side shouldn't move?

I am now doing the RH side and the rear mount on the rh front has the same issue. The moog adjustment washers won't move at all when installed.

Anyone have experience with this?

Brooklyn Bay, I looked at MountaineerGreen's thread and that was informative. However, I still have my truck torn apart trying to figure out why there is not enough space on the rear control arms mounts to allow the washers to rotate.

One thing I did notice is the forward mount of the rear control arm mount is bowed on both sides. This may be the cause. I am going to try to straighten and add washer as shim. If I straighten the forward mount, I'm going to have almost 1/4" gap between control arm bushing and mount and that's why I'm adding the shim.

Is it crazy to think during production assembly there was that much gap and they just tightened it down and let the mounts bow?

I know when I installed my moog adjusters I had to elongate the holes on the right front mount to pull the arm all the way out. The mounts get bowed in from being tightened and could restrict the arm from rotating all the way out also.

I would not bother with the shim unless you weld it in. When you tighten up the arms you are tightening up on the outside of the control arm bushing and it needs to be tight so it does not rotate. The shim would act as a washer and help it rotate.

My other alternative is to try to move the bent over tab inward toward the engine to allow the washer to fit.

I tried to post pics, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
