Alright a week and a half ago had my pads and rotors replaced on the front. everything was working great. Suddenly today when i started my car and started driving a god-awful squel/screeching was coming from both brakes. it was one of the highest loudest things ive ever heard. it lessened when i stepped on the brakes. it does it all the time even when im not on the brakes. And it also veers badly to the right when i slam on them. everything worked fine prior and directly after the brake job. please help

If it does it without apply the brakes, your going to need to pull everything apart and double check your work. You don't have something installed correctly, a caliper slide pin, or caliper bolt, something. Make sure the anti-rattle clips are in correctly too and nothing is scraping on the rotor.

well i had the local mech do it. they screwed me for the job..it was 478 bucks to replace the thermostat and do front pads and new rotors. i wanted to do it myself, but my mother insisted i have a "pro" do the work. ill go and see him tomorrow and try to get him to fix it.

what does everybody else think of this??

Sounds like they screwed up the work, in addition to screwing you on the total.

it sounds like you got robbed... also it sounds like one caliper is sticking or bad..... and if they put crappy pads on it, that could be it too... raybestos red pads stop fine, but they are painted, and the paint always glazes over and makes noise :(

Well i took it to the mech who did the work b4, and he said that there was a rock in between the rotor and backplate. I dunno if this is true. but everything is back to normal and he didnt charge me anything..he is a really nice guy tho. he was highly recommended by many people. it could have just been one of the guys he has working for him. ah well

maybe they installed a pad in backwards or somthing, Its kinda hard to install a pad with a rock stuck to it and unless a rock got shot in it would be hard to get into the tight space between a new pad and rotor..... Whatever

Edit- didnt read about How the rock was behind the backplate....What i said should make no sence so ingnore it
