A cold air intake $250 gives about 8 horsepower umm a cat-back exhaust cab run 280-400 gives about 10 horsepower 10 ft pounds ad a tunes woild bring that all together !!!!!
What AJ said. Also, depending on the mileage of your X and its history, a fresh set of plugs, wires (if applicable), fuel filter, clean the throttle body and Mass Air Flow sensor. Getting the basics in order will help too.
Best thing you can do is make sure you are 100% on all routine maintenance. After that: exhaust, intake, e-fan, pulleys, and a tune. Exhaust and intake are straightforward. You can get a tune through an online retailer. I made a how-to on the fan and pulleys here: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=294228
