More Juice for the 4.0

Has anyone "Seriously" looked into pumping more ponies out of the venerable 4.0 V6? and if so what mods are available?

there are 2 common supercharger kits (Explorer express for about 4-5 g's) and an independand for less then two g's. both add about 60HP i belive.

chips/tuners (tones of options)

turbo upgrades (STS Turbo, or mabe your own setup)

motor mechanical mods such as new headers, etc. (super six motorsports)

new full dual exhaust

Welcome! There are a bunch of options from mild to wild you can do to your explorer. You might want to check out the modified 1991-1994 section of the forums to get some ideas. Equnox gave a good starting list. Eletric fans and underdrive pullies are other good options as well. Skip the chip or tuner. Your truck has the obd-1 which will not benifit much from a tune or chip. There is just not enough variables to tweek.

Creager has a sticky in the modified 91-94 forum about building up his 4.0 ohv. he hasn't posted in a while but i think he said he ended up with a pretty stout engine after it was all finished.
