I recently hauled a rear tilting load from cal to tex. My shocks bottomed a couple times. After unloading there was rear sag, about an inch. I added rancho 9000's, still sagged. Added a 1-inch lift block between leaf springs and spring u-bolt plate, no sag feels great. However, this is a cheap short term fix I want to remove the blocks b/c they're visible and would like to have it sit on my rancho's like it would have before I hauled the load. What else could be the problem, leaf springs, stabilizer bar?

I am having trouble understanding why the one inch block did not end up lowering your truck in the rear. Besides that, your best betis to go with add-a-leafs (Explorer Pro Comp or Rancho) or some sort of Air Lift Spring system. Hope this helps.

I am confused to? I have a 98 and my rear end leaf spring goes under my axel. Adding a block would just lower the truck. I also have the infamous rear sage and it is driving me crazy. I have called performance products and explorer express for some add-a-leafs but neither sells them. Does anybody know were I can get a set of add-a-leafs for a 98 2 door sport. I have the mono spring in the rear?

I don't know why it worked. Yes the leafs go under the axle, I'll have to ask the mechanic. PARANOIA!!! I don't like the blocks there anyhow and the mechanics were adamant that the leaf springs are just too sturdy to be damaged. So whats causing the sag!!!!!! Besides add-a-leaf's (what is it and how does it work?) what else could I do, lift it in the back? I read add-a-leafs rode a little rough.

The sag is caused by the weak leaf package Ford puts on the Explorer to give it a soft ride. Add-a-leafs will fix the sag problem and provide you with better stability and more load carrying capacity, as well as keeping your truck from bottoming out as much. It will stiffen your ride only a slight bit, but if anything, it will be an improvement in ride. Explorer Pro Comp makes an add-a-leaf, part #13120 I believe. And iff the rear is pushed up too much, you can always twist your torsion bars up front to level out the ride. Hope this helps. Dead Link Removed

Can anyone explain why 1-inch blocks would lower the rear end? Could the torsion bars be ajusted with the blocks to make it look level? No Rancho add-a-leaf's for 98 XLT's. I'll check with Pro Comp. Thank's for the help.

Sorry, I did not see the question about Explorer Pro Comp before. You can order the add-a-leaf at www. summitracing.com, here is the location of the add-a-leaf: http://store.summitracing.com/product.asp?ssid=NNBG3W7X7IH81W47FG7CCLC3JT&orderid=3DETQ1KEM5VTU5EO6N6KNQT1OB88BWQY22RX&p=A6ED1921-3612-11D3-949D-080009FC5B5F. I was told directly via e-mail from Explorer Pro Comp that add-a-leaf part #13120 would work on Explorers. As far as why the block would lower your rear end, your leaf package is underneath your axle. If you put a block between this package and axle, in essence you are pushing the axle up, not pushing the leaves down. With pushing the alxe up towards the body, you are lower your vehicle. Blocks are used to lift vehicles for people when there leaf package is above their axle. When your leaf package is above the axle, you can place a block between the leaf's and the axle, pushing the axle down away from the vehicle and thus, increasing ride height. f you have a solid axle up front with a leaf package above the axle, it is illegal to put block in to lift the truck, it is only legal in the rear. I hope that I have not been too technical and vague, if you have further questions, do not be afraid to ask. Also, there are some who use blocks in the rear to lower there vehicles to make them sportier, the same thing you did, however, I think you were looking for a different outcome. Hope I helped. Hey guys: just wanted to know if this would work with a '99 sport 4X4,with the 3" single leaf. I phoned explorer pro comp, and the part # they gave me was 13128,and when i checked out summit, this # was for a super duty F-250 4X4,and this is a full length add a leaf.I dont like the soft suspention, and would like to stiffen up the ride a little bit,the truck is level, and I have not done a twist on it as of yet,and I have the mid range torsion bars,SOHC. any suggestion's
and thanks

I see no reason why it would not work, especially if Explorer Pro Comp told you that it would. I would go for it or talk to Summit first. Tell them that Explorer Pro Comp told you that it would work on your truck. If they agree or say that it will, buy them. If it doesn't work out you can always return them. Good luck, and I hope I helped! Dead Link Removed

well guys:
I did some checking,and it turns out,that since I have a single leaf(monoleaf)
in the rear,I can't,or should not add a helper to it,that I should go to a multi leaf design, too much $ for me,I got this from another person at explorer pro comp,as well as a spring place they recomended
(nationwide spring) I think it was
any thoughts on this, and they also told me
that my monoleaf may even be composite.
thanks, Dead Link Removed
