Expedition

What about the Explorer Expedition (sport body)??

I voted Sport, of course, but the Expedition would be my vote because of the extras that came with it like; front/rear brush guards, skid plates, HD cooling, leather, power: seats/windows/sunroof/steering/brakes/antenna/seat, roof rack, 6 cd changer, premium sound, two tone paint, fender flares, front air dam, driving lights, AC, 255/70/16s and 16x7 chrome wheels,running boards, etc...

I've had the best of both worlds...I used to have a 93 xlt (hence my user name)... but now i have a '96 5.0 limited. I have to say i really miss the cloth comfort of the xlt. But the limited is just so much nicer and has alot of extra stuff. So there's my two cents...

I have this wierd thing about Chrome, I don't like it. So I'm all for the Limited with everything painted to match everthing else. I think it looks sharper. But now that the Aviator is on it's way, I may be looking to move on.

Gotta go with the sport. Small cam be a very good thing. I got mine in 5-speed manual, two-tone (red/grey) 4x4 , step bars, tape/cd player, cloth (I live in the desert, leather bad) 4.0 (plenty of power) and it's just cool to wup some tailpipe with a small truck. I also got an aftermarket class III hitch installed, makes it look beefier up front.

well i would have put all of mine but i couldent i have a 01 sport trac 4x4 xlt/ fully loaded,97 explorer xlt 5.0 AWD,soon a 96 limited explorer v6 4x4,94 explorer xlt 4x4 so im kinda diverse

I like the short wheelbase of the 2-dr Sport. It's easier to park and handles well in heavy traffic.

BTW, what is an Explorer "Street"? I've never seen one.

The Explorer Street was a Concept Explorer that was used in shows. After customizing my Sport the way I like it. I made my own STREET emblem with VW emblems. Click here for the details.

Most popular style is the XLT, I see so many around my area. In my household we have two Explorers, my brother's '92 XLT 5-speed, and my '92 Sport. I am partial to the XLT because 4 doors are easier for climbing in the back than a 2 door, as I found out today when I had to climb in the back seat of my Sport to wash off the fingerprints that were on the back windows. What a pain that was.

I would have to say my grey 98 LIMITED XLS 4.0 with Chrome bumpers and trim... I love my extra options, especially my message center, overhead console and auto dim/lamp mirror... I would be even more happy if I had the 5.0...

One question, "Why are there more votes for the XLT, what makes that so special...
I mean, the Limited has all of the options and the Eddie Baurers have some of the options and fender flares. The XLT just has a 5.0...why???

another question: what are the differences in the regular Explorer and the street model???

Well, I can try to answer your questions. First, the XLT has most votes since it is midrage in the price scheme and more XLT's are sold verses the more expensive eddie bauer and LTD. The XLT all decked out has almost all the same options as the eddie bauer, minues the paint scheme and message center.

Second question: I think you are referring to the Explorer Sport verses the plain Explorer. the Sport only designates that it is 2 doors verses 4 doors; it's not that it is a street model. The sports are basicvally a little shorter, they retain the solid rear axle, and look different up front. The only drawback is lack of 5.0 option. Other then that it's the same as a 4 door.

I love my 93 XLT. It's by far the best truck i've every had. The only thing that I think could be better are the front seats. I have the 6 way power seats and the hip huggers (don't know what they're called) really get abused when I get out out of the truck, cause I have to kinda slide my leg across. I've had it reupolostered (sp?) once....need to figure out a good way to keep them in good shape...Anyway xlt!
