motor mounts

One of motor mount on my 4.0 is gone. I was thinking of welding it down instead of pulling motor to replace it or pulling the motor for a 5.0 swap. Ideas, opinions?

Weld it down as in welding the engine directly to the frame? That would probalby cause some vibration and i'd advise against it.

yeah, weld it to the frame. I've never seen it done before, so i figured it was a bad idea. I can handle some vibration, but what are we talking here, like my fillings are going to rattle out-that bad? I paid $900 for the truck so cheap is the name of the game. It isn't a daily driver, just a tow rig. I've looked at Jasper for a 5.0 but they're asking for a couple grand for a rebuilt with warranty. $800 gets a 5.0 from the salvage yard. I'll probably just replace the mounts and leave the ol' 4.0 in there.

Its not gonna be that bad vibration wise i dont think but that will stress everything by not being able to move. There needs to be some movment in there somewhere. Solid is not the answer. Motor mounts are not that bad price wise

wow, you're not kidding. I got quoted at $200 installed for both mounts. That's nothing. My buddy was saying they would be closer to a grand. He knows foreign cars though, apparently not much for the domestics. I already called to tell him how cheap they were, he couldn't believe it. He wouldn't even tell me how much the mounts+install cost for his S4
