1995-2001 Explorer is the same. The only thing available is a billit grille insert. I don't know what you mean by a "plastic front panel thing(where the headlights are."

i couldnt find one so i took a 95 Ford Ranger billet grille and made to fit was actually easy to do had to customize it by bolting to the top of the grille but there covered by top plastic when all back together

Mountaineers and Explorers are the same only until `97.

98-01 Mountaineer had a totally different grill/headlamp set-up than the Explorer of the same years.

I think you mean you want a 98-2001 Mountaineer grill, header panel, headlights and corner marker lights. Try a junk yard or craigslist for a broken truck.

If you mean a custom grill, then make one. I did.

what color is your truck mine is like the dark blue almost a purplish tint, and i want my bumpers black like yours but not sure if it would match so well im about to do the rear one if its not rusted to bad and just have it black

yeah so my question is (now i know more of what im talking about) where do i get a billet grille insert for a 98-01 MOUNTAINEER... or how do i make one?

you have to custom make one there is no inserts that i have seen if u look up at my first post i used a 95 and flipped it upside down, fit good with minor cutting 1996explorerxlt did his different so he may have a different way to do it. I say find a JY get a grille for cheap cut it up and practice with it. get measurements from other vehicles like ie F-150, the rangers, S-10's etc.

Price: $249.95

Product Description:

ZD5702

X-Spec Grille
This styled grille really changes the appearance of 95 and later Explorers. Replaces the chunky truck-like stock grille with a sleek sport look that separates your Explorer from the crowd. Constructed of fiberglass, the X style grille comes in a glossy gel coat finish that is ready for light sanding and paint. Wing sections around headlights from stock grille are reused. Bolt-in installation. Needs a little hand work to make factory "wing" pieces fit perfectly.

did you have to do n e more cutting to the grille and can u explain a little more of what u mean by bolting it? thanks man

I tried an Explorer billet grill flipped upside down but it didnt work for me. Maybe because I bought a cheap ebay one, the curves didnt line up and the underside of each billet piece was hollow, kinda like [

I cut the stock grill out, I bought some aluminum stock with holes from ebay and sanded it in one direction lightly for a brushed finish because it had gouges in it, even though I wanted it polished like a Denali grill. Rolled the edges over the inside edge cut at every other hole and epoxied it in place.

My truck was in a light accident and while having it fixed I paid an extra $800 for the lower half of the truck painted Deep Wedgewood Blue to match the top.

yeah mine does have the [ shape on top but barelly noticable i got to finish sanding my grille down i just sanded where needed and threw some primer on untill winter so i can sand it all the way down and paint it. I like the bumper on your truck better then the mountys fifty150. where ya locate that one at?
i moved the pic so ill repost it here

My custom grill:

It used to be chrome too. I cut out the vertical slats and ground the edges smooth, painted it, and cut out the mesh to fit from the inside and painted that black.

Fifty150 is that for the whole bumper? or just the airdamn part and a bit pricy
dylan.C.1021 ill get pictures where i bolted mine at in few days, its cold as hell out all week,
and 1996explorerxlt i used a 95 ranger grille there a bit longer then the explorer grilles i believe.
mounty71 i thought about doing it that way but dont like that it can see right thru my own preference

Ya i'd also prefer if the mesh was a little denser so you couldn't see through it so easily, but it's all i could find that was cheap.
