Mountaineer door latch problems

I have a 2000 Mercury Mountaineer and the left rear door will not open.I managed to get the door panel off and found that the bellcrank mechanism that slides the lock is seized and I lubed it and got it working but unfortunately the slide that it engages is also seized,and it will not slide down to allow the latch to open.I have given it a big dose of penetrating fluid but so far it will not move.The scary part of this is if you can,t get it released how do you open the door to replace the latch.
Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same problem with the same door on the mountaineer I just bought I have not had the time to pull the door panel off yet though to see how bad mine is.
