I have a 12" Kicker in my 98 sport, and I am always biking/ hiking/ hunting/ hauling etc. It seems like I always need to pull my box out in order to gain more cargo space. Now I do have the amp mounted where a factory sub would go, so all I hafta do is disconnect the 2 speaker wires.

Up to this point I have been using a cargo strap and the tie down hooks, but I would like something more secure, and possibly with more theft deterrence, that is also quick an easy to remove often. I wouldn’t mind if the method didn’t offer lock-ability, because I could always mount a loop and use a bike lock to keep her from getting stolen.

Anyways, has anyone though about this issue, or figured out a solution, or do all you audio guys just accept that you gotta loose space in order to enjoy your sub????

Well, you don't necessarily have to lose space to enjoy your sub. I put my box and sub in the factory location, and put my amp on the back side of the left rear seat. A plate covers it so you can't really see it. But a 12"? Might consider going to a bass tube. Could free up some space. Otherwise, cargo rack? Bike rack? :)

I've been thinking of doing the same thing. I am thinking that some type of latch attached to the box at the bottom, the mount brackets to the bottom of the cargo area. The latch would buckle onto the brackets and could be locked in place, and the easily un-done for removal.
Kinda like the latches used on tool boxes, install 2 on each of 2 two sides of the box.
Something like that?
