You huys have to go see this one. Go the MTX website, www.mtxaudio.com, and look at the RFL152. If you have never seen it, you will definatley be amazed. I think if I had a whole bunhc of money that I did not need, I would buy two of these bad boys!

Yeah they look nice, but if I were into SPL I'd go with the new Image Dynamics IDMax. I'm sure they'll be winning all sorts of comps for the next few seasons. Good luck.

space for box

the mtx rfl is pretty cool, but you would need a huge 2 chamber box for them.
if you have that amount of space, why not go for the Audiobahn
AWT34X. it's a 34 inch titanium subwoofer with mad heavy magnets.
it handles MUCH more power, moves MUCH more air, and is capable of MUCH lower frequencies.
my friend put one in his van. being in the same nieghborhood is quite an experience.

just out of curiousity, where/who/howmuch are 5000 watt rms amps?

5000watts rms

if you mean to power the awt34X, the audiobahn A2300HCX amp would do fine. it's rated power is a conservative 2400 watts RMS @1 ohm @12volts. ford explorers electrical systems run about 15 volts. the voltage increase will actually almost double the power output. i am not making this up. we tested my A275HCX (rated power is 600wX1 @1 ohm) it put out a constant 1004watts.
retail price is quite expensive, i dont know how much it goes for at stereo shops. my friends buy them from me for much less cause i got the hook up.
if you are looking for anything in particular, let me know.

Personally i would never buy that 34" Audiobahn even though I have Audiobahn AW1200's. Two DD Beasts would probably have no problem outdoing that audiobahn (If it actually does do what the wattage says it does) BTW how did your friend afford a $5000 speaker? Personally I am not that impressed with the RFL. For $1000 it should be damn good. Even Strokers! and DD are cheaper and I would almost bet they would be louder if in the right enclosure and thoroughly powered.

i agree with you. you would think 2 beasts would outperform it. but the fact is the 34" has a much larger titanium cone and more excursion. it also hits extremely low. i cant describe what it's like, you have to experience it for yourself. i'm not saying it's the best, i'm just saying there is nothing like it.

what size enclosure did you use for the 1200's. i had a 1205X in a 2.8cuft enclosure and it was amazing. when i put it in the recommended 0.85cuft box, i wasn't impressed.

just wondering if you use a bigger box too.

oh yeah, he bought the AWT34 from me for $3600

stroker 18's

Stroker 18's do outperform the RFL, and with less power too.
i dont know about 15" strokers cause i never heard them. everyone always gets the 18" because they are just about the same price.

don't dog mtx

no offense to any of you guys with audiobahn stuff it sound great but if you compete in sound competitions then you know SPL level subs don't last long MTX has designed the knew RFL's to last they also come with a rebuild kit for the cone. They didn't use any glue on these bad boys it's all screws that's why if your gonna go with an SPL level sub these would be my weapon of choice

i'm not saying MTX sux

i'm just saying the RFL wouldn't be my SPL weapon of choice.
the RFL handles 2000 watts. it has a 15" pulp cone. it costs $1000
an Audiobahn AWT15 handles 3000 watts. it has a 15" titanium cone. and it costs a few hundred less. it has better frequency response, and better cooling so the voice coil doesn't overheat. also the Audiobahn has larger, heavier triple stacked magnets.
and the titanium and chrome looks a lot better in installs.

Get those, then put a few of these:
