I am planning on buying a super 40 series flowmaster for my 93 ohv and im gonna run the stock 2.25 pipe. Should i get center inlet center outlet or what? Am i going to have to do welding or can I just use clamps for a while.

Doesn't matter whether it's center or off-set.
You can use clamps but its not the best method, You can weld it yourself if your good, or you can get a shop to weld it.

clamps suck, its cheap to get it welded.... look at how your stuck muffler is... bear in mind you might need to get some pipe welded on anyways as i remember my stock muffler was liek 2 feet long, and the flowmaster was only like 18" or something....

How is it that we always post at the same exact time and say the same thing Jim!

P.S. Mine went through first :p

thats because mine took longer to type as mine had more stuff in it....

well here's what I did. Everything behind my cats eventually fell off. So I went to parts city and spent $20 for a cherry bomb turbo II muffler, spent another $25 for the tail pipe, and about $8 for an extension pipe. Put it all together with some muffler mend on the joints to avoid leaking, clamped it up. Put another $5 into a chrome tip... Works great, sounds great, looks great! Best of all, only $58 for an exhaust.

yes believe it or not you can get your exhaust to seal by using the Muffler sealant and clamps.

or you could just clamp it momentarily until you can get it welded.

yup. I go for the effective but affordable. I don't see spending $50+ on a muffler, let alone a few hundred for an exhaust system. I'm happy with my parts citcy exhaust. Super solid! I can understand an expensive exhaust on a performance car.. but an old explorer? :-P

I know that welding the exaust system is better but we never welded for years and years and no one that I know of died from exaust leaks and no ones exaust ever fell off when the clamps were put on right. Muffler sealer will help.
BTW: I think Monkeydude3 spent his money wisely!

thanks! I figure why blow $300 on an exhaust system for a temporary truck... :) have a great one

by the way i had the exhaust like this in the wintertime, and I looked underneath when I first started it up, no leaks! :)

We could spend thousands to try and get a few more horsepower and a few more miles per gallon but its just not worth it. A well tuned and maintained engine and drivetrain will offer almost the same performance.
But i'm not old fashioned, I know its nice to do the mods and add ons if you want to.
