Mustang?

hey i have a 65 fastback with a 289 v8 in it. im new to the mustang world (esp classics) so im looking for a little help. we want to spruce it up a little (my dad and i are working on it) and we are thinking dual 2.25 piping exhaust, 600 cfm edelbrock carb, and a dress up kit for the engine....how does that sound? any other good mods for it?

what i really need is a good company to order classic mustang parts from, i made an order through www.mustangsplus.com and it went well, but they dont sell hardly any performance parts...

heres some pics:

You can try www.mustangsunlimited.com but careful with them. THey can be just as good as they can be bad. Check Summit, Jegs, and maybe even JCwhitney. Ive leaned that the 289 is a very common engine to find stuff for. good luck.:)

nick- throw on an edelbrock 600 and an edelbrock intake. bump the timing up so it barely runs on 93, and slap some headers and exhaust on it. this will make a HUGE difference. those stock exhaust manifolds are killing power, along with the Motorcraft 2 barrel.

We used to have a '92 LX 4 cyl. It was nice looking, but was about the slowest car I've ever owned. What I would do for a '03 Cobra!!

Sweet, I have headers on mine:)

:p

nice snake! a friend of mine has a white 96 Cobra with R's that looks just like yours. :)

Thanks James. Thats my baby, she has about 17,000 miles on her and pretty much lives in the garage. Engine is stock, but I have put some bucks into the suspension and drivetrain. It's more of a show toy/weekend car, but don't worry, when it gets driven I have no problem puttin' the:hammer: down!

This is my "Hooptie GT"

I'm the third owner of this 1991, roller 302, 5spd car, stone stock (except filter & mufflers *walker*)with 178k miles on it.
I use it as my daily driver, and get 25mpg out of it and she'll run 14.2's all day with a 2.73 rear gear.
She's a hell of a highway car.
Lil rough around the edges, but solid.

Sorry she was dirty in this pic:

nnnick check my homepage. I have few pics of my old 66 fastback. Pics aren't really that good but my engine bay might give you a few ideas. I think it's on about page 7 or 8

damn, i need my engine to start lookin like that. ive been working all week on the headliner. had to take out the windshield and the rear glass to install it, and when i got the glass out there was a little rust where the border of the glass was. so i took it to the body shop and got it all rust free and painted :) no rust on this ride! so now i gotta install the new headliner and get the glass put back in, then onto wheel upgrades (the 14" caps are killing me), and im going to start just by repainting the whole engine bay so its not so nasty lookin, then onto headers, intake, dual exhaust, 600 cfm carb, and some ignition goodies :)

nick, since you're not going for all-out performance, get a AFB copy Edelbrock carb. easiest to tune, easiest to make stay tuned, and a kid can rebuild one. best overall daily driver carb ever.

Brett's stable of horses....

65 Fastback C code / paxton supercharged 302 4spd
65 Fastback A code / no rust original car from a barn in NM
66 Coupe C code / Pony Interior (needs help)
68 Bronco (in the buildup/restoration stage right now 72K original miles)
93 Cobra

1979 Capri

recently sold my 1985 Mustang GT, had a 400hp 306 in it. Too many play toys, and not enough money to make em all what they want to be. Decided to keep the Capri, factory V8 car, original black interior, with the Ghia package. Seemed like it was the rarer of the two. That, and it ran a 14.41 @ 94 off the highway, the weekend I bought it, with a ****ty tune.

Hell yea! Had a '65 coupe, a '69 fastback, and a '70 428cj MACH 1. Long live the 'stang!!

I dunno if this counts or not but my brother has a 2000 3.8 V6 Stang. At least its a 5spd.
His mod list:
-True dual flowmaster 40 series
-MAC CAI
-TB spacer
-T-Loc
-Just put on the MAC progressive rate springs, ordered the caster/camber plates yesterday.
-Next on his list is 95 Cobra R's
-then the next will be a 11 PSI Procharger system, which should give him around 345Hp-craziness....
-oh and he also has a sony xplode head unit and the rest of his system is Rockford Fosgate, including all door speakers and a 12" Punch Power HX2 run by a RF 500a'2 amp, bridged, should be pushing around 700- 800 watts.
Thats about it i think.
And for pics go to his homepage thing-his page....
