My 2001 Sport Trac has electrical issues.

Chad Lumbrazo here. I have a question for anyone that has a clue, and could possibly help me out. I have an 01 Sport Trac with 182000k. I love this truck and have owned it for 4 years. Suddenly a series of things have been going wrong and I think it may be the body module. First the Temp gauge and compass quit working then months later the OD switch quit. Now the delay wipers just don't delay. the 4x4 switch was kind of finicky for a while. if I turned it back and forth a couple of times I could get it to work. Now I'm told the actuator is in need to be replaced... I don't believe so. I don't hear the clicking sound it would make when you turned the switch from two to four wheel drive. If some one could enlighten me with some answers I'd greatly appreciate it. Thanks Chad

Welcome to this forum! I've renamed your thread, and moved it into the 2001-2005 Sport Trac section. It's possible that the GEM has a bad connection or it's starting to fail. Pull it out, clean the contacts, then reinstall it.

The overhead compass/temperature display problem may be unrelated to the other glitches. A known problem and user fix is known. See the link below.

The GEM module controls a lot of the things that you are having problems with. The PCM controls the engine, and the GEM controls most of the body related functions.

k ... so th e GEM is the body module????? safe to say ?? I don't have a problem replacing it.... I'd rather do it myself... I even get a discount. just want to know I have guys behind me that know what they are talking about. seriously I'd rather replace a motor or trans. cuz I know what I have.... Love my truck. and my Boys do too. Thanks. guys!!!!
