Maybe something died in there?

Honestly, mine smells musty sometimes when the truck's been sitting for a while and I turn the air on. It always goes away in under a minute though. My only thought is that being in wonderful SE Texas, you have some mold or something growing in your system.

A quick fix is to get lysol, or an other disenfecting spray open your windows turn your AC on high max, while driving spray the lysol (10 to 20-seconds) into the vent on the top of the dash. You can also have a AC shop do a similar procedure. They use a stronger mold killer. Alex was right there is mold growing in the system

musty

hey u said that you were getting a musty smell in your X I guess u must be having some dirt build up on your evaporator that needs to be cleaned out. When dirt builds up after sometime moss forms on it and that is the musty smell you get when you use the AC

where is it located and how do you clean it? Is there a cabin air filter?

hey guy's i am getting this in my girl friend's car how do i clean the EVAPORATOR!

evaporator

I do not know where the evaporator on the X is located because I have only owened a X for only 2 months, but when moss and girme and dirt build up on the evaporator when the incoming air is drawn through itit pulls in the musty smell. The way to claen it is with water.

ok no drama i can find the evaporator! so what your saying is just to clean the evaporator with water?
thank's.

There is usually a condensate drain tube to remove moisture from the evaporator. If it's plugged, you may get excessive moisture and then mildew in the evap.

I had a pluged drain on another veh. a couple a years ago. The auto parts store has some real good stuff for cleaning condensors. Bad smell never returned.
If you go to the trouble of cleaning the condensor might as well use some good stuff especially if your gonna keep the g-friend.
