Hello, My back brakes are making a grinding noise when I apply the brakes.

I know how to replace my front brakes but I've never tried my back brakes.

I don't even know where to start. I assume that they are drum brakes. Does anyone know how to do this, or has any links that show how to do this.

Any help or advice will be very much appreciated.

Thanks,

-Mike

No they are disc too. If you have replaced your fronts then you can do the back too.

i dont know too much about brakes, but i think that when you start hearing a noticable grinding, not like the one from the ABS, that means the brake pad has worn down a lot and you are grinding the core onto the rotor, which may mean you need new rotors depending on if it bore into them more than you can just use a lathe on.

If you are grinding the rivets into your rotors, you will wan't to get the rotors turned if still in spec. I know a few auto parts stores will turn your rotors for free if you buy their pads. And yes, if your are experienced with your front brakes, the rears will be the same.

The rear brakes are easier than the fronts, IMO.
