My brake lights on my 1995 Aerostar are not working. I've changed the bulbs and it doesn't seem to help. ALL other light functions work, turning signals, hazards, and when i pull the headlight switch the lights come on. But when i press the brakes they don't get brighter. Fuse is good as well. Any idea what the problem could be?

Thanks

I should also add that about 2 weeks ago i couldn't get it out of park when i pressed the brakes. had to take it into a shop. They apparently disabled the function so i could get it out of park. I wonder if that has anything to do with the problem. whats scary is that i only realized i had no brake lights yesterday......i might not have had any for 2 weeks!

Welcome to this forum! The shop should have tested the brake switch, and fuses before they disabled the safety interlock. Have them test the brake switch, and put the safety interlock mechanism back to the way it was. It's a good thing that you didn't use the cruise control since the brake switch cancels it.

Thanks for the welcome! I'm glad i found this forum.
I never even thought about the cruise control....that could have gotten messy.
They disabled the safety interlock system cause they said it wasn't getting enough power or something when i hit the brake peddle to release it. So they bypassed it or something. Is the brake switch directly involved with the safety mech?
I'm quite a novice when it comes to this stuff so sorry for my ignorance.
