I wanted to send a message to the forum with my experience with E3 plugs in my 2008 V6 Explorer 4x4.

Almost immediately after I installed the E3 spark plugs, I started to experience misfires. My gas mileage dropped 10% - 15% and my idle became very very rough (most likely due to misfires). Since my coil and wires were old, I replaced the coil and wires hoping my misfires would end and the idle would smooth out. It didn't happen. No change. Throttle response was less than good.

I replaced the E3's back to the Motorcraft SP412's. No more misfires. Idle smoothed out. Gas mileage is getting better according to the computer.

Word of caution regarding these E3 plugs. The E3's sound great and have a lot of positive attributes attributed to them. In the end, in my Ford 4.0, I realized none of the benefits advertised. This is only my experience and I wanted to let the forum know my experience.

The OEM plugs seem to be better for my Ford with the basic copper ford motorcrafts. My idle is normal. Gas consumption seems better and my throttle response feels normal again.

I don't recommend the E3's over the Motorcraft SP412's. This is only my opinion and my experience.

I think the e3s are also a little shorter than the original plugs. I tried them but during the cold weather i got a misfire on start up and switched back to motorcraft plugs. Before I tried them I did a lot of research and most people said they did not see and increase in mpg or power but I still decided to try them.

I didn’t do much research on the E3’s. My mechanic installed them when I took my EX in for a tuneup. He really pushed those plugs.

I’m a firm believer in the stock copper plugs. My EX runs 100% better now. I wasn’t impressed with the E3’s at all.
