- 1994 aerostar awd
Hello I'm Robert and a newbie. Last week I bought off the original owner a 94 XLT extended EAWD areostar.it has 150,000 very good shape a few bug but it's a 94. Runs good trans shifts strong but she's a drinker I need to I roll her in AA AKA GA.
1 the owner did not tell me for the last 2 years she's been driving with the EAWD relay unplugged. I found it in the glovebox jack I called her and she said the garage did it to get better mileage . Well I plugged in in and got 9 flashes so ill work on that later.
2 the drivers window did not go down the regulator is riveted in from the factory. I never did this before so it took me 2.5 hours once I got started.
You need 4. -1/4x1/2 bolts I used button socket heads,8 washers I used nylon for no squeaking and 4 nylon lock lock nuts.
1 steel punch hammer 25t torx for the socket bolts. And I used a dremmel to cut the rivet heads off and to grind the door flush. Some may use a drill I used a drill on 1 and it was a pain.
After cutting off the heads I punched out the rivets grinded the door smooth . Unbolted the motor an odd size 1/4 to small 3/8 to big I want to say 8/32?.
That is the only way to get the regulator out in two pieces .
Sprayed the snot with brake cleaner it was frozen that's why the window don't work.
Once free I used white grease on all the points worked it good now resembling unit.(I FORGOT TO MENTION UNHOOKING THE WIRES ITS EASER IF YOU POP THE WIRES OFF THE DOOR THEY GET IN THE WAY .)
Now the fun part putting it back togeather the motor bolted up fine but the regulator you need to slide the window glide in the track and move the regulator electricity up and down so the for holes line up on the door. No biggie but a pain since I was going blind no book and never did this before. Very tight fit with the hands holding the lock nut and tightening the bolts. It's a good thing I used socket heads made things easier .
Just hook up your wires and replace door panel. You will need a trim tool I tried to pop a rivet and broke it never broke one with a trim tool. I would give 30, extra minutes for cleaning the door panel and putting away tools.
My only other problem is door lock next topic
