So I'm on my way home tonight, and it's drizzling outside. I'm following this ricer cavalier and this ricer probe gt.... they're just messin' around, following each other, racing a little bit but nothing major (probably cause it was slick out). So the ricer probe turns off at a light, and so now I'm next to the ricer cavalier. We end up at a red light, and I can see that the cavalier driver is looking at me, and talking to his buddy. So I figure, what the hell, I'm gonna race him. So I put it in 4WD, and when the light turned, I just popped the pedal. I hooked up instantly cause of the 4WD, and the ricer pretty much got going quick too, but I ended up blowing him away by 3 car lengths at least by the time we hit 60mph. He got pissed, and flew past me as I was slowing, and cut me off. Sore loser..... :D I was proud of my Ex!!!

Just had to share that with you guys.....

:chug: :chug: :chug:

hey man good for you. that is what i like to hear.

Its ok to run 4wd on wet pavement cause your tires can still slip

Ryan

In the 95 and newer Explorers they have a 4auto setting that acts like traction control for all four wheels. It is great when it is wet out and you want to take off quickly from a stop. Very little wheel slippage. Done it myself many a times.

Only cause thats what you have.

I heard that!! :)

I love the wet road racing. I have beeten Camaro's, Mustang's and others with the 4x4 many times. For some reason they just don't get it.
Yea, AWD is cool, too.

Mike, is you X bone stock?

Yep. It is some what stock. There are lots of things I want to do to it,of course. It mainly is our family rig and tows our tent trailer when we go camping.

I have done the TT, shackles, mod air box w/K&N filter and cat back exhaust. I also have added a stock overhead console and high series center console (both from ebay) and put in a Steelhorse 3rd seat. I put in a Sony deck and 10 disc changer (changer in the center console) and a Cobra CB. A Safari bar and lights was added to the front as well as rear 55w backup lights on the trailer hitch. I alos hav Ventvisors and a EGR rear air deflector. I just picked up a set of factory 16" wheels from another member to replace my 15" wheels. I will be putting larger tires on them once I get them. Not sure what size yet, though. Will have to do some test fitting.

Go to the link in my sig and it will show you some of the little things I have done.

I wasn't sure which Mike you were talking about so I figured I'd post anyways......

My Ex is pretty much bone stock except for some appearance mods right now. I have the crystal blue hiper bulbs (fog bulbs in the mail) and I have a third brake light decal which lights up EXPLORER at night (pics to come soon) and I have the homemade mesh grille inserts behind the grille, '00 XLT badges on my doors (coming soon... '03 Escape V6 badges for the fenderwalls)

There's so much stuff I want to do but so little money in the bank right now...... :D

My bad. I think he was asking you. I forgot who had started this thread.

Mike, I have one of those 3rd brake light decals as well. I got mine off of ebay. They look pretty good, I'd say.

Is it black with the EXPLORER letters cut out? Cause there's one with just the letters that say explorer..... I'd never seen the one I have before on eBay until one day I did see it, and someone had bought it so I emailed the guy and he made me one for like 13 bucks....

Which one do you have?

Nice kill! :D My X has claimed a 280Z, V-6 Mustang, and a stupid 4-banger Accord ;) Probably more, but I forget as of now. Don't mess with the X :)

3rd brake light...

Yep. I got the one with the letters cut out of it. The whole thing looks like a wide piece of electrical tape (that is what it reminds me of). It took me a few months to get around to putting it on. I was hesitant about sanding down the lettering on the lens to make it smooth. Once I finally did it it only took me about 30 min to install it and get it smoothed out. I think I put it a little to high on the lens, though. If you look at it at the right angle it looks like there is a red line under EXPLORER when the brakes are applied. Otherwise it is cool looking at night.

Mike- I need to sand down the lettering on mine.... plus my decal is a little bit crooked, and so I have another one to put on there (I ordered two just in case) and now I'm gonna wait for winter to get done and then put it on.... it looks great though at night!

Majisto- I'm still waiting for the V-6 Mustang... :D

Hey that's cool.
Hey since a Cavalier is an American car is it technically a ricer ?!

Well yes, because to me, rice doesn't mean an import anymore. It's really any person that things by putting on stickers, body kits, and big aircraft wings, that they can run with the big boys. A turbo Supra isn't rice to me, because it IS fast. Not pretending to be fast, but it's still an import, and i'm still biased towards domestics...plus, I hate the clear tail-light look of imports, and their lines for some reason are just too sharp for my tastes.

To me rice is all about the stupid accesories. Any car can be rice if it;s illequiped enough.

Yes, the terms "domestic rice" or "rice-a-roni" have become politally correct terms for American car driving ricers
